FORMULA:
Each Etol 200 mg Film Tablet contains 200 mg of etodolac. Each Etol 300 mg Film Tablet contains 300 mg of etodolac. Each Etol Fort Film Tablet contains 400 mg of etodolac.
PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES:
Etodolac has anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and antipyretic properties. Etodolac inhibits the synthesis of prostaglandins in the inflamed tissue. It thereby reduces and prevents the sensitivity of pain receptors to the mediators of inflammation, such as histamin, serotonin and quinine.
INDICATIONS:
Etodolac is indicated for:
- Rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondilitis,
- Arthrosis with pain and motion difficulty,
- Acute and long term use of osteoarthritis,
- Relief of mild to moderate painful conditions.
CONTRAINDICATIONS:
Etol Film Tablet should not be used in patients with known sensitivity to Etodolac and those with a story of peptic ulcer or with active peptic ulcer. Due to the possibility of a cross-reaction, it should also not be used in those patients who developed asthma, rhinitis or urticaria during the treatment with aspirin or other nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drugs.
DOSAGE and ADMINISTRATION:
The recommended daily dosage of Etodolac is 400-1200 mg. Etodolac is used b.i.d. Etodolac may be given in shorter intervals in acute painful conditions. Maximum daily dosage is 1200 mg. In patients weighing 60 kg or less, total daily dose of Etodolac should not exceed 20 mg/kg. Pediatric dose has not been determined. No dosage adjustment is necessary in the elderly.
HOW SUPPLIED:
Etol 200 mg Film Tablets: In blister packages of 10 and 20 tablets. Etol 300 mg Film Tablets: In blister packages of 10 and 20 tablets. Etol Fort 400 mg Film Tablets: In blister packages of 14 and 28 tablets.
